The clacker is typically made from a tropical hardwood; but is dependant on what wood is available in abidance when making, and as a result the product can differ in grain. Popular woods that are used by our artisans in this region are cedar wood, pine, and rosewood.
In Vietnam the rare lotus clacker is known as a Chun mo and and was originally made by Master Phan Chi Tinh - He taught his son Phan Chi Hong to continue the traditional trade in Hanoi. The percussive instrument is a type of wooden clave temple block and is used in traditional Vietnamese music and play an important role in theatres and festivals. Due to the handmade nature of these products designs and size may slightly vary but loveliness comes as standard.
