Most lunch boxes nowadays are cheap cast-offs from popular tv programs, kids films and with kids wanting and wanting, parents are pressured to give in, trust me I’ve been there, and before you know it you have brought the plastic tub that comes directly from China. I have probably spent money on lunch boxes with characters on more than I should have because of my children wanting to fit in with others. Now though, the eco friendly option is best and the designs are always improving.
The plastic ones though, they break time and time again and there I am ordering another just so my child can feel the same as others. Not anymore, our daughter is a very clever 5 year old and understands now why we choose not to use those plastic containers and she now spots the difference. Her metal container lunchbox is still going strong whereas she would be on her 4th, maybe 5th plastic one by now.
Most imports from China are made of cheap plastic, and whilst it may seem cheap it is not when you think about how many times it has to be replaced due to wear and tear, scratches or simply when your little one grows out of that character fad, not to mention the harmful chemicals that come from the plastic that leach into your little one’s food. I have chosen these lunch boxes based on health, and the fact that they are eco friendly. We hope that by not purchasing plastic items we can refuse plastic from the market and improve our overall health. We also kept in mind the features that are important: huge storage size, high quality product, and strength. They may be more expensive but buy high quality, and spend less long term. Another great thing is how versatile they are, you can take it to work, school, picnic and have your lunch in it.
